What's Up with Dale

How's your week going?

Mine is going fast and I still have this cold!  I am really sick of it now.  I am somewhat better but it is still hanging on.  I am trying to get ready for the Scrap-a-thorn on Saturday.  I think I will need a U-Haul to get me there!

I wanted to share the second card we made at my last workshop.  This card was inspired by one I saw on Stampin' Connection.  It does have a watermark on it but it is too faint to read.

I used cardstock that I rarely use.  Confetti White is the base and the second layer.  I liked it because of the spots you see in it.  The stamp set used is Fresh Vintage from the Sale.a.bration mini.  It can be yours FREE for a $50 order.  The ink is Lucky Limeade, Pool Party and Wistera Wonder.  I sponged around the edge in Wisteria Wonder before attaching to the base.  The Designer Paper can also be yours FREE with a $50 order.  It is from Everyday Enchantment.  Using the Doily Triple Layer punch I punched out the botton layer of the flower using Wisteria Wonder.  I stamped the image again and cut that out to layer onto it.  The large pearl was the finishing touch.  I used the word window punch and the Modern Label punch for the Happy Birthday tag.  That stamp is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

It's been raining all day today.  I haven't been outside.  The mail is still in the mailbox!  I spent my day making up 12 x 12 scrapping kits for Saturday.  Hope you had a productive day.

Scrapbook pages

I am doing a Scrap-a-thorn this Saturday.  It will be the first one for me as a vendor.  Not really sure what is expected or what I should do even.  My upline told me I should have kits for purchase so yesterday I made this layout that was inspired by Stampin' Connection. 

Almost all the product is retired.  The only current cardstock used was Real Red.  Of course the dies and punches are still current with the exception of the Star.  I have a ton of retired cardstock and DSP and thought this would be a great way to use it up.

I am giving away a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit and 50 6 x 6 sheets of retired DSP.  I am bringing my Big Shot and dies for them to use.  We will be there from 9 am to 10 pm so I thought in the morning, afternoon and evening I would have them use the Big Shot to make a Top Note, Tags and Tasteful Trim.  That way I will get them to try the Big Shot and look over my current product.  Of course I will announce they can download MDS for a free trial beginning February 1st.  Sale-a-bration will have started so that is another promotion I can tell them about.

I am off to create a couple more layouts so I can offer a different one for the morning, afternoon and evening.  Not sure what to charge yet for these layouts.

I have to take my cats to the vets for shots this morning and it looks icy out there.  Hopefully by 10 it will be melted a bit.  It's raining right now.

I have a workshop tomorrow and wanted to do a Valentine's card with them.  I wanted to use some dsp from Sweet Shop.  One of the papers has heart embossed on it so I die cut it using the new Hearts collection framelits die.  I then proceeded to put it on my card using Real Red as one of the layers and Real Red ribbon.  I soon realized that the paper is not Real Red but more Calypso Coral which I would have known if I had taken the time to check out the mini.  I didn't like the card at all so I switched it up to the Calypso Coral.  Take a look.  The card was inspired by one I saw on Splitcoast.

I had Real Red in my mind so this just didn't do it for me so I created another card.

I was happier with this one but I have to say the first one is growing on me.  Anyway I wanted to use Early Espresso as it reminds me of chocolate and that reminds me of Valentine's Day!  The base on both cards is Early Espresso, next came the Calypso Coral or the Real Red then the Whisper White.  I have to confess I had just noticed that the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing folder was hearts.  I thought it was dots!  Doesn't it look great here!  On the top card I used the Scallop Dots Ribbon in Chocolate Chip.  On the bottom card I used the Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.  Personally I like the smaller ribbon.  I made the tags using the Jewelry Tag punch.  The stamps are both from Outlined Occasions Stamp set which will be available FREE with a $50 purchase beginning January 24th.  They can be seen in the new Sale-a-bration catalog.

For the hearts I used the Hearts Framelits and the Fashionable Hearts Embosslits Die.  I put a couple of them inside the card also.

They are predicting snow for tomorrow but I hope they are wrong.  If they aren't wrong I hope it starts late in the day after my workshop.

Final Stack Class card

We make three each of four different cards each time we have a stack class.  Here is the 4th card we made last week.

The base is Cherry Cobbler layered with Whisper White that was embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder.  I ran a piece of the Pear Pizzazz Pleated Satin Ribbon across the middle.  I stamped the image in Versa Mark and embossed using the Cherry Cobbler embossing powder then punch it out using the Blossom punch.  Both the stamp set and the punch can be found on page 17 of the Occasions Mini.  I layered that onto another flower that was punch out using the Cherry Cobbler.  Using dimensionals I added it to the card.  To finish it off I placed one of our new Large Pearls in the center.  They can be found on page 26 of the Occasions Mini.

It's raining here in my part of the world.  By rights it should be snow but the temps have been so crazy and it is too warm for snow.  I still haven't gotten over my cold.  It really is lingering.

Flurries and Friday

We are having the craziest weather.  Yesterday it was in the 50's and today we are having snow flurries.  Probably that is why so many people have colds.  I can't seem to shake the cough I have.  According to the weather report it will get colder then in the 40's then drop again.  Other than the snow we had in October we haven't had any.  I know Alaska and other parts of the country have had more than their share!  I am not complaining.  I do wish the temperatures would get more stable.  It's time for the cold.  The poor plants don't know what to do.

Here is another card we made on Monday at the stack class.

The base of this card is Lucky Limeade.  I took two strips of Whisper White and used the Adorning Accents Edgelits die to create the scallops.  I adhered it to the strip of DSP that is from Twitterpated.  I stamped the image from Apothecary Art in Basic Black Craft Ink and heat embossed using clear embossing powder.  The flowers were colored in using a blender pen and Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush.  The saying is from the same set and was stamped in Concord Crush.  I then cut it out using the Labels Collection Framelits die.  I love what the embossing does to this stamp.  It really pops it.  You could use this card for a number of things.  For example you could say Happy Anniversary, Get Well, Thinking of you etc.

Stack Class Supervisor

Oscar was determined to be part of the stack class on Monday night.  I couldn't resist this photo.

He stayed this way for a very long time.  I don't know how he could have been comfortable.  He is spoiled because instead of moving the basket I took out the contents when they were needed.

This is the card that was in that basket.

The base card is Rose Red that was embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots folder and layered with Whisper White.  I stamped the flowers down the edge of both the outside and inside Whisper White.  Then I took the outside one and used the Adorning Accents Edgelit die and the Hearts Collection Framelits and ran it through the Big Shot at the same time.  The small hearts were made using the new Fashionable Hearts Embosslits Die which can be found on page 35 of the Occasions Mini.  I randomly stamped the flower image with Rose Red.  Used the heart cut out and edged it with Rose Red and stamped Be Mine on it.  Once all the hearts were placed on the front of the card, I added rhinestones to finish it off.  The images are from Bordering on Romance which can be found on page 11 of the Occasions Mini.  I am really loving this set!

This week is flying by.  I haven't been feeling all that great since Christmas.  I have that cough and congestion that is going around and can't seem to shake.  Stan has been in Vail skiing but he comes home tomorrow.

Stack Class

Today's stack class is really a December make up.  Our regular January Class will be held on the last Monday of the month as usual.  (January 30th)  Today we will be playing with some brand new product.  Here is one of the cards we will be doing.  This card was inspired by Create with Connie & Mary.

The base card is Blushing Bride layered with vellium that was embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots folder.  The Basic Gray was die cut using the new Edgelit Die and embossed using the Adorning Accents folder.  The DSP is from Twitterpated collection.  (I love this collection of DSP)  The ribbon is the new 3/8" Pleated Satin Ribbon in Blushing Bride.  The image is from Bordering on Romance which can be found in the Occasions Mini on page 11.  It was stamped in Craft Black and embossed using Clear Embossing Powder then it was colored in using the blender pen, Daffodil Yellow, Blushing Bride, Poppy Parade and Pear Pizzazz.  Finally it was punched out using the 2 1/2" Circle punch and adhered using dimensionals.

Occasions mini

The new mini is out and you can order from it until April 30th.  There are some fabulous new products in here.  My favorite new products are the Framelits!  These are fun and easy to use.  Here is a sample.

I used the Labels Collection on this card.  I also used the Adorning Accents Edgelits on the bottom edge.  The base of this card is Pretty in Pink.  I embossed it using the Perfect Polka Dots folder.  The DSP is from Twitterpated collection on page 13.  I stamped an image from Apothecary Art which can be found on page 24.  This set was designed to be used with the Labels Collection of Framelits.  I cut that out using the die and then cut out the Lucky Limeade using the next larger die of the Labels Collection.  They layer perfectly.  I colored in the flowers using a blender pen and the Watercolor Pencils.  The saying is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and was stamped in Lucky Limeade.

I saw this thank you card on Frenchie's blog and knew I had to case it.  It really is so cute. 

The base is Baja Breeze layered with Whisper White.  The scallops were created with the Scallop Circle die (113468), the larger of the Scallop Circle #2 die (113469) and the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle punch.  The circles are the 3 1/2" Circle die, the 3" Circle die that was embossed using the Northern Flurry embossing folder and the 1 3/4" circle punch.  The hands are made from the Snowflake punch and Chocolate Chip cardstock.  The hat is Basic Black and is 1 1/2" wide.  I rounded the top corners and the brim is made with the Word Window punch.  I sponged on some White Craft ink on the top edges.  The flower was made using the Itty Bitty Shapes punch.  I cut the nose out of Pumpkin Pie and drew the eyes and mouth using the Basic Black marker.  He was put together with the mini brads.

It is really cold here in New Jersey.  It is suppose to warm up by the weekend.  I certainly hope so.
