Sunday once again

As I am doing these post ahead of time, I can't really share much about my weekend as it hasn't actually happened yet.  Look for tomorrow's post for some details about my trip to VT.

I received this card from Debby Kainu as my one on one swap for October.  Really nice card.  The base card is Whisper White.  She used Bermuda Bay ink, paper and ribbon to complete the card.  The snowflake is from Serene Snowflakes found in the Holiday Mini.  The saying is from Four the Holidays also found in the mini.  Thanks for the great card!

What are you doing today?

I am having a quiet, peaceful day.  Even though I am not there yet I know that is the kind of day I will be having.  It is always that way in Weston.  One of the many reasons that it is a great place to let go of all that stress and everything that may seem important but really isn't.

I hope your Saturday is stress free.  Today is my daughter's wedding anniversary so Happy Anniversary Joy and Nik.  Here's the card I sent them.  I am sure I cased it somewhere but I made this a while ago and I don't remember but I probably got the basic idea from Splitcoast Stampers.  I love the Medallion background stamp.  It can be used for any type of card.  You can see I used it for a Christmas card in a previous post.  It is very versatile and you can find it on page 133 of the catalog.

On my way

By the time you read this post I will be on my way to Weston, VT for the weekend.  There are five of us altogether and we have a grand time.  Of course we get up really early in the morning to make morning prayer but it is worth it once you get to the chapel.  Getting out of bed is another story.

I cased this card from Diana Gibbs.  The base card is Kraft.  There is a bit of Bella Blue DSP and some Brocade Blue.  I did a bit of paper piercing and used the gel pen.  Then added the white grosgrain ribbon.  The stamp sets were Serene snowflakes stamped in Creamy Caramel, Bordering Blue and White craft.  The saying is from Sweet Season and stamped in Chocolate Chip.  Thanks Diana for sharing this fun card.

How is it going?

Man the time is flying by.  How are all of you doing?  Here in my part of New Jersey everything is fine.  Schools are closed Thursday and Friday for Teacher's Convention.  My daughter and her family are heading up to our home in PA for a bit of a vacation.  She plans to make cards all weekend and not go out!  Good luck to that.  I am off to VT with four other ladies.  We will be staying at the Weston Priory.  It is always great to go there.  Very peaceful.  No TV, phones, no cell service - you are just away.  They do have the VT Country Store there and it is always fun to go and see what unique things they have.  But mainly we go up there to stay with the Brothers for some real quite time and enjoy the peacefulness of the place.  I'll be home Sunday.

Take a look at this card.  It was quick and easy.  The base card is Garden Green.  I layered it with real red.  I stamped Patterned Pines in Garden Green on the Whisper White layer.  This is a level one Hostess set found in the Holiday Mini.  The Season's Greetings is from Four the Holidays which can also be found in the Holiday Mini.  The ribbon is from Mistletoe originals.  Not sure if it is still available.  The last thing I did was to had a bit of dazzling diamonds.  As I said before quick and easy.  Enjoy your day!

Once again it is the middle of the week

and I don't have as much done as I should have.  I will blame it on working more than usual but that isn't the real reason.  I get side tracked.  I swear one of these days my office will be clean and organized.  Just don't ask me when.

I thought I would try doing a step card and CASED this one from Splitcoast Stampers.  You can't really tell here but I embossed the tops of the yellow ornaments using the folder I cut.  The base card is Garden Green.  I used Garden Green, Real Red and Summer Sun to stamp the ornaments. 

Start with a piece of 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Putting the 5 1/2" edge at the top of your cutter measure to 3 1/2".  Put the cutting blade at 1" on the vertical ruler and cut down to 6 3/8".  Turn the cardstock to the 8 1/2" edge.  Score from the edge of the cardstock to the cut line at 1", 2", 3 1/8" 4 1/4" (all the way across the center of the card) and 6 3/8"

Here is another card I made yesterday.  This one took a bit of time but I think it was worth it.  The base card is Real Red.  The Whisper White was embossed with the Petals A-Plenty folder.  I had cut an oval out of chip board to eliminate embossing the center.  I stamped Gifts of Christmas in the center.  I used markers to color the stamp and I also used the Real Red marker to add the color to the embossed flowers.  As I said it took a bit of time but I do like the results.

New week, new month!

Can you believe it is the first week in November?  I sure can't.  Halloween has come and gone but I still have candy!  I was home today so I made some cards.  Not as many as I would have liked to have made but I did get a few done.  Here is one I CASED from Splitcoast Stampers.  Not sure who originally created it but here is my take.  Isn't he cute.  The base card is Real Red and I rounded the corners.

Next I embossed the Whisper White with our Petals A-Plenty folder.  The antlers were made using Swirls Scribbles sizzlet die and Chocolate Chip cardstock.  I used the following punches to create the deer.

Head:  Wide Oval

Mouth:  Small Oval

Body and Belly the 1 3/4 and 1 3/8 circle punches. For the arms and legs I used the Word Window punch. 

Teeth:  Double Rectangle punch and finally the nose: 1/2 inch circle.  I used a piece of the Holiday Lounge DSP for the book.  To finish him off I added a red bow and a touch of the white gel pen to his nose.

Did you remember

to set your clocks back?  I did but my internal time clock didn't know to sleep later.  We ended up going to 7 am Mass.  We were up so why not?  We have sun today.  Too bad we didn't have it yesterday.  We only got about 60 trick or treaters so I have lots of candy left.  I finally got my closets changed over.  I keep saying one of these days I am going to have enough closet space so I don't have to pack and unpack when the seasons change.

I know I did not make this card.  I took this picture when I was at Tina's one night.  I am not sure exactly who made it but don't you love it.  What a great way to make a Christmas tree.  I am working on some new cards for my November stack class and a 6 x 6 for my upcoming workshop.  As soon as I finish them, I'll download them here.  Hope all of you enjoy today.  Get outside and enjoy the sun while we have it.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Right now it is dark and rainy and it is only 9 am!  Hopefully it will clear for the trick or treaters.  I certainly have enough candy and I don't want it hanging around.  Here is the 4th card we did at our stack class this past week.  This card was also quick and easy.  The base is Chocolate Chip.  The Whisper White was embossed with the Petals-A-Plenty embossing folder found on page 21 of the Holiday Mini.  The DSP is part of the Christmas Cocoa package found on that same page.  Peace on Earth is from Four the Holidays on page 19 of the mini.  Finally the ribbon (on of my favorites) is found on page 183 of the regular catalog.  I really liked the way this turned out.  Cards don't have to be difficult to make to be nice.  Simple clean lines do it for me everytime.

It's Friday

the day before Halloween and I haven't gotten any treats yet.  I guess I know what I will be doing this afternoon.  Normally I don't work on Fridays except during tax season but I have to go in this morning.  This is my weekend to get organized - I hope!  I am going to give it a try.  I have to change over my closets and work in my craft room.  Here is the third card we did at the stack class this month.  I used Sage Shadow as a base.  I don't often use this color but I do like it.  I  used Naturals White for the next layer which is also one that I don't use nearly enough.  The trees and saying are from Scenic Season on page 35.  I added a bit of glitter to the trees.  This was a quick and easy card.
